Ross & Zuckerman, LLP was formed in 2005 to focus solely on the continuously evolving laws surrounding family building, including those affecting intended parent(s), gamete donors and surrogates. We are committed to helping clients navigate the legal portion of their family building journey by: (1) collaborating with other infertility professionals including physicians, psychologists, medical ethicists and matching entities to help assist clients in making appropriate decisions for their family building options; (2) educating each client on their rights and responsibilities related to their family building plan, including the drafting and negotiation of appropriate documentation to successfully reflect that plan; and (3) offering flexible meeting times as well as Skype and telephone consultations.
Heather Ross co-founded the law firm of Ross & Zuckerman, LLP in 2005 to focus solely on legal issues surrounding assisted reproductive technology. Heather is past chair to the Legal Professional Group of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. She is also a member of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, a professional member of Resolve, Family Equality Council, The LGBT Bar, and a committee member of the American Bar Association’s Assisted Reproductive Technology Committee. Heather has represented thousands of clients in gamete donation, embryo donation, gestational surrogacy arrangements, co-parenting agreements, parental orders and co-parent adoptions. She is a frequent lecturer and writer in the area of ART law and has presented numerous CLE courses to attorneys, medical professionals and law students practicing in this field. Heather is also a Village Trustee in her hometown of Northbrook, Illinois, where she lives with her spouse, and 3 teenage girls – all of which are the successful outcome of assisted reproductive technology.
Prior to forming Ross & Zuckerman LLP, Nora worked at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, one of the preeminent not-for-profit legal aid organizations in the country. At LAC, Nora represented low-income clients in a variety of civil legal matters, including family law and consumer law. Since forming Ross & Zuckerman LLP in 2005, Nora has dedicated her practice to issues regarding alternative family building, including intended parents, egg donors, sperm donors, embryo donors and surrogates. Nora takes pride in providing fully engaged and compassionate representation to her clients, guiding clients from the beginning stages of family formation through the last step of legal parentage. Outside of her legal work, Nora is the Co-Chair of Luggage for Freedom, a project of the National Council of Jewish Women, a position she has held for over ten years. She is also the Past President of the Deerfield Parent Network in Deerfield, Illinois, where Nora resides with her husband and two teenage children.
