With over two decades of legal experience, Maya Shulman specializes in surrogacy, adoptions, and assisted reproductive technologies (ART), representing intended parents, gestational carriers, and donors in domestic and international fertility arrangements. Maya's unique background combines both medical and legal expertise. Originally from Latvia, she studied medicine at the Medical Academy in Latvia before immigrating to the U.S.. After earning her B.A. in Psychology from Brooklyn College (CUNY) in 1995, she pursued her legal education at the University of West Los Angeles (UWLA) School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1999. Her medical training provides her with a distinctive advantage in understanding the science behind reproductive advancements, enabling her to better serve her clients in complex family formation matters. In addition to her practice, Maya serves as an Adjunct Professor at UWLA School of Law, where she teaches "Adoption and Surrogacy," believed to be the first course of its kind offered at a California law school.
