Leia Swanberg is a mother of five and an experienced surrogate and egg donor. With a background in business development and management, Leia turned her personal passion for alternative family-building into a full-time business. Egg Helpers is now one of Canada’s leading egg donation consulting agencies. Leia is a prominent advocate for all aspects of third-party family building in Canada. Her vision for the future of assisted reproduction is to continue supporting education and innovation in the world of reproductive technology, with the objective of establishing clearer regulations for the Assisted Human Reproduction Act. In 2017, Leia began lobbying the Canadian government to decriminalize the payment of surrogacy and gamete donation with Liberal MP Anthony Housefather. Leia and Egg Helpers have been featured in both Canadian and international media, including The National Post and the BBC, depicting third-party reproduction in Canada as an approachable subject and a tangible reality.
